Build confidence, get fit, learn self-defense and have fun in our
family friendly martial arts school
Kuk Sool Won™: A world-wide comprehensive system of traditional martial arts that all of the family can enjoy.

Kuk Sool in New Zealand

Our Focus
Over the next 3 to 4 years we want to support some of our students to open their own Kuk Sool schools.
National testings for DBN's and black belts from all Kuk Sool schools will be held at the Pukekohe dojang
Ongoing training for school owners will be held regularly in Pukekohe with a New Zealand Master PKJN Caroline.
When travel from overseas resumes, a yearly training session will also be held with a headquarters Master SIKJN Suh and PKJN Caroline.

Our Approach
Our adult black belts will be encouraged to establish their own schools for kids and adults in different locations around Pukekohe and the rest of New Zealand.

Our under-black belt adults will be encouraged to tutor small groups of kids as a way of developing their skills and preparing for the establishment of their own school once they achieve black belt. At black belt and as a school owner they will be entitled to teach both kids and adults.

Our youth students (black belt and under black belt) will be encouraged to assist black belt school owners and tutors, with PKJN Caroline’s permission.

Ways we will develop our youth and adult students
We will encourage adult coloured belts to set up small satellite kids classes from a home garage or community hall (they will be known as “tutors”). By keeping costs low, you can earn a little money and buy some equipment from the class fees you charge. Students will pay additional fees for WKSA membership, uniforms with badges and gradings directly to Kuk Sool Won™ of Pukekohe. You will be supervised by PKJN Caroline, and attend all adult classes to be trained toward black belt and develop your teaching skills.

We need our youth and under-black belt adults who do not want to run a satellite class, to work toward becoming helpers to those running classes (they will be known as “helpers”). This will help you to refine your learning and perhaps give you the confidence to open your own school one day.

We need all our Black Belts to open up or pair up with another black belt to open up small clubs for kids and adults (“school owners”). You will be required to have your own WKSA license, and will run your own administration and grading. PKJN Caroline will be available to provide advice and guidance. Once you have students at DBN level and above, they will need to join the national testing programme.

All black belts school owners will be eligible to attend specific black belt classes run by PKJN Caroline. This will allow you to practice under black belt material and receive specific black belt training. We will also include tutors in these training sessions as a way of providing additional support and developing them as future school owners.

The benefits of Kuk Sool

Kids – Kids classes build confidence as well as fitness.  A fun way to help those struggling with bullying as well as building strength, flexibility and coordination.

Youth - We encourage our youth to gain self-discipline and a sense of achievement by pushing them more than the younger kids.  We do this by providing our youth, aged 13 and above, with their own dedicated instructor in the adult class.

Family – Kuk Sool has a strong family focus.  There is something for everyone and it is a fun way to strengthen family bonds.

Women –  With its emphasis on self-defence and physical development that builds self-confidence, Kuk Sool is ideal for women and girls.  With a highly qualified woman instructor, we provide a safe environment for those who have always wanted to learn a martial art but never had the confidence.

Men – Men love Kuk Sool. It provides physical and mental challenges progressively through a structured syllabus.  Condition your body, develop athletic skills, and learn how to defend yourself and those you love.

Black belts – We are a school that encourages students to train for their black belt.  But the learning continues at black belt level, with Kuk Sool providing a lifelong curriculum of learning.
